The stitch lift is a new procedure for people requiring subtle changes without turning to more invasive traditional procedures, such as a face lift. The stitches elevate the soft tissues of the face through the placement of stitches into the fat and muscle beneath the skin.
An incision is made behind the ears where the stitches are inserted in a series of loops, extending towards the corners of the mouth and looping back towards the ears, where they are attached to the hard cartilage behind the ears. The stitches are placed at varying distances between the ears and mouth to provide multiple traction points. The tightening of the stitches lifts the skin and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles between the mouth and ears, and particularly softens the nasolabial fold.
Because of the positioning of the incisions, they are not visible and should gradually fade.
The stitch lift does not produce the dramatic tightening effects associated with most face lifts. The results produced are significant, yet subtle leaving a more refreshed and natural appearance. A major benefit of this technique is that the surgeon can make adjustments to the stitches within the first four weeks post surgery to either relax or tighten the area to obtain maximum results.
Pre Operative Care:
Inform your surgeon of any allergies, any medical conditions, and medications you are taking (both prescription and non-prescription)
Avoid aspirin and aspirin-containing medicines for two weeks prior to surgery. Do not smoke for 2 weeks prior to surgery as this may effect your reaction to the anesthetic and healing process.
Hospital Admission : Day Procedure.
Anesthetic : Sedation and Local anesthesia
Duration of Operation: Approx. 1½ hours
Recovery:
The recovery takes approx. one week. Although you may have some bruising or swelling most people are happy with the result and may return to work after a week.
Result:
While the sutures tighten the skin, further skin tightening occurs over time through a psychological reaction to the sutures, which causes the body to create collagen, which is a major factor in obtaining the effects of the stitch lift and youth. Facial profile looks more youthful and fine lines and wrinkles are less transparent.
Risks:
Risks are minimal with this procedure; you may experience a little discomfort, bruising, bleeding or infection. Infections are not common and can be treated with antibiotics. In the event that the sutures require removing this can be done under local anesthetic.
There is no set schedule fee and the costs may vary from one doctor to another.
